Adventures in theatre and improvisation

Adventures in theatre and improvisation

We started this activity a few weeks ago thinking that it would be a good chance for the students to get to know each other better and improve their English.

Surprisingly, we discovered that apart from practising English, they found theatre a really strong tool to communicate, to develop their improvisation skills and the most important thing: to lose their fears and to be sure of themselves, especially in the process of learning a new language.

The teacher is Emma Munoz, one of our summer activity leaders as well as an actress, blogger and theatre director. She has found these classes an incredible way to connect with the students, to help them to enjoy this adventure, and to gain fluency in English.

"I always say to them, come and try it: if you don’t like it you can always leave the class but if you can't stop laughing, then you will have to stay," asserts Emma.

She describes her classes as a combination of comedy and improvisation games with a few theatre and drama techniques — all done with the best mood and the will to enjoy yourself and have fun.
