Diploma Trip at Bournemouth Boat Services and Tuckton Tea Gardens

Despite the rainy morning, the sun came out in the afternoon and a good time was had by all on our Diploma trip recently. It was non-stop action on the River Stour near Christchurch. First, we went on a boat trip around Christchurch Harbour and enjoyed the lovely views of the Priori and local wildlife. Then the bumper boats were very popular, with some students getting a real soaking! Several students had a chance to try crazy golf for the first time in their lives. Then there was the cream tea, with Earl Grey tea and huge, delicious scones with lashings of clotted cream.

Life begins at 60!

Kings Bournemouth’s Jenny Ramsey recently completed the London Moonwalk (a fantastic charity event where volunteers walk 26 miles through London – at night!).  Jenny take sup the story: “On May 14th of this year, I walked 26.2 miles, through London, at night, in a decorated bra! Why did I put myself through this? Mainly because I wanted to raise money for Breast Cancer Charities. Family members and close friends have been affected by this disease…”

Staff update

At Kings Bournemouth, we have a large number of permanent staff members, from teachers and course leaders, to kitchen staff, sports and leisure staff through to administration, accommodation and welfare staff. During the summer months, we have a huge number of new summer students arriving and this means we need more temporary staff to help us with all the new students. We have two new recent updates to our staff here in sunny Bournemouth.

Beverley and Jan are part of a bigger team that makes sure Kings Bournemouth always runs smoothly and everyone stays happy!

Since the 80′s Comic Relief has raised more than £600m and Bournemouth helped add to this fund with a whopping £1179.28!

Laser mayhem in Bournemouth

Laser Quest can be found in Bournemouth’s Town Centre, just 10-minutes’ walk from the college. This is an activity loved by Kings students of all ages and even Group Leaders and Kings staff! A recent male student said, ‘I really like this game as it is good to work as teams and it’s also really good for fitness; after this I don’t need to go to the anymore!’

And it’s not just the boys who love this activity. Last week a group of girls weren’t sure they’d enjoy it before they went, but ended up loving it and wanting more!
